Quality is about more than a perfect finish. It's unparalleled construction. It's layer after layer of doing things the right way. When I was just 17 and working as a laborer for a home builder, I learned a principle that has become fundamental to my work now: "The first step is often the most important one." As I was working to tear down trees, lay foundations, and take care of details as mundane as house numbers, I learned how important it is to get things right from the very beginning.
Later on as I got into remodeling older homes, I would encounter building methods centuries old and had the opportunity to see firsthand the kind of workmanship that stands the test of time. Through a gamut of building jobs held over my lifetime – from leading a framing crew at a young age to moving into interior trim work to acting as project superintendent over large-scale retail & restaurant projects to owning my own business and handling the broad range of work that brings my way – the common thread throughout has remained a focus on quality, craftsmanship and fairness.
